Within Sight chronicles the trials and tribulations of Sam Narunsky––a celebrated painter striving to create the kind of work he has become known for. Narunsky’s passion evolves under the torment of an imminent transformation. For Sam, the prospect of imminent blindness not only threatens his ability to paint, but, moreover, his purpose. Sam’s engagement with the craft becomes a crucible of reflection, imagination, seeing, and perceiving—as he reckons with an undetermined future.
Artist’s Statement
Crafting Sam Narunsky has been a stark exercise in self reflection––born with a retinal condition that rendered me legally blind would make pursuing a life in the performing arts both challenging and unlikely. Therefore, with a deep reverence for the arts, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this struggle. ~ Aden Karp
